The Importance of Practice
When you’re presenting to the public or participating in a media interview, you know that prep is important.
But what’s the best way to practice?
Well, you’re going to be speaking out loud, so, that’s how you should practice.
It helps to practice with someone you trust, and even better if they don’t work in the same industry as you. This way they can point out areas that need clarification.
And while it may feel funny at first, practice a few times in front of a mirror. That way, you can take note of all your nervous habits. Are you shuffling your feet? Have you smiled yet?
And most importantly, practice often! But, don’t memorize. The delivery feels more authentic when it’s not fully scripted.
And while practice doesn’t make you perfect, practice does make you prepared. And that will shine through.
