After the Media Interview

You’ve just participated in a media interview with a journalist.

Every media opportunity is a chance to learn, improve, and further bond with the reporter.

So if it’s broadcast — though it might sound painful — watch or listen to your full interview clip all the way through! You might surprise yourself at how confident you look and how knowledgeable you sound.

And if it’s print, assess your quotes. Did you get your key messages across?

What can you learn from the final product? What would you do differently next time?

This reflection is important, but also don’t forget to follow-up. Send the journalist a thank you email. They’re helping you to tell your story!

And if there’s anything that they got wrong, it’s often appropriate to ask for a correction – the reporter wants to get it right, too!

And of course – share the coverage on social media! Your personal and professional networks can help amplify your message.
